Why it works

Alegreya was drawn for literature, and its angled, restless letterforms give headlines a bookish energy that most web serifs lack. Lato answers with calm, warm paragraphs — a humanist sans whose slight rounding echoes the serif's calligraphic origins without imitating them. The pairing suits essays and publications that want intellectual character up top but know better than to set long screen text in a lively book face.
