Fonts for blogs

A blog is judged one long post at a time, so the body face matters more than the headline. Look for a text font with a comfortable reading x-height and open counters that stay legible from a phone in bright sun to a wide desktop column — a serif like Lora or Merriweather earns its keep here because the small serifs guide the eye across long lines. The heading face is where you get to have a voice: pair a quiet body with an expressive display so titles feel authored, not templated. Watch the contrast between the two — enough that headings punctuate the page, not so much that they feel like a different site. And check the regular and one bold weight are both loaded; a blog needs emphasis inside paragraphs, and faking bold with synthetic weight looks cheap.
